An interesting statistic from a survey of habits from TNS to mark the end of 2008. It’s a global survey that concentrates largely on people’s online habits, but for me the most interesting statistic is just how low UK newspapers have sunk in people’s trust.
The survey was global and the UK came out bottom in this category. We trust our press the least it seems and only 23% now believe what they read in the papers. I’ve seen a fair bit of discussion about the effects of internal linking on a website and it’s effects on SEO recently. Some refer to this as “Link sculpting” which is a techie way of saying getting clever with your site navigation. Whatever you call it, there are some interesting theories that have supposedly been put to the test and delivered results for people. I’ve recently started using Yahoo! Pay Per Click services, which on the surface looks very good. However, after a short time I noticed I was paying for clicks from junk sites with names such as “casinorip.co.uk”, “freedating.co.uk”, “Petgrooming.co.uk” and “couponmountain.co.uk”. These have clearly been set up to generate PPC leads and are not only low quality sites, but are totally irrelevant to what I do.
