Hot on the heels of the Top 50 Highest Paid Footballers comes a list of the 25 most expensive transfers in world football up to 2009. Yes I know this will probably soon get muddled up when Man City sign Eto’o, or Super Cesc hops back to his native land, but for now, here are the most expensive transfers to date. moreOne problem that a lot of webmasters with good content have is that of “scrapers” stealing their content and using it on other sites. Aside from being more than just a little bit cheeky, this can also cause the originating webmaster harm in Google rankings by effectively duplicating and, thus in Google’s eyes, devaluing their content. So how do you prevent this? Read on… Read the rest of this entry »
Monday 20th April
Ah well – last chance to get my game together before the trip to Alcaidesa next weekend. Made the most of it too. Not. Lost 4&3 to Ads over 9 holes at Boars Head with not a memorable shot in sight. Told him he peaked too early. We’ll see next week. B*ll*cks.
Monday, 6th April
After a week off (conference in Amsterdam) and a bit of pigging out on rich food, it was time to avenge Ads over 9 holes at Boars Head on a bright and sunny Monday morning. Oh dear. What a disaster.
Skip to the chase – I lost 2&1. While I could argue that Ads sinking a 20 footer on the 2nd last was the difference (I won the 9th), the truth of the matter was he played well and I played like a donkey. In fact, the 9th was the only hole I parred all morning and was 3 down after 4. An uphill battle from there. I won #6 and #7 to reduce the deficit – mainly thanks to Ads skimming a 30 yarder on the 7th over the green and into a ditch though, not because I played it well, and then that putt on the 8th. Grrr.
Only 3 weeks to go until we visit Alcaidesa for the long weekend, and the way I’m playing at the moment, “long” will be the operative word.
I had a frustrating problem recently where my PC would sometimes not respond to mouse clicks or keyboard strokes and I had to keep clicking or pressing keys before it would accept them. I’m running Windows XP and this started happening soon after I installed Google Chrome.
After some investigation, it turns out a task called “Google Update” was causing the problem. It starts up with Windows and gets installed with Chrome. I want to keep Chrome for development purposes but to lose the updater so here is the fix if you have a similar problem: Read the rest of this entry »

I came across the following Top 50 salaries for footballers around the world (as at January 31st 2009) while browsing for something related. Although salaries are changing all the time ( I suspect Beckham’s new deal at AC Milan is probably right up there now), it’s very interesting. For example, I had no idea John Terry (£140,000) earns more a week than Ronaldo (£125,000) and was surprised to see Arshavin (£90,000) of Arsenal on the list bearing in mind their strict salary policy. No sign of Cesc on the list either.
Interestingly, Arshavin gets paid exactly the same weekly salary as Paul Scholes & Dimitar Berbatov (both Man Utd) and the two Chelsea strikers, Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka. Interesting because I would put them all roughly on the same plain in terms of class. And Michael Owen earns more than Robinho too! Now admittedly Robinho is a bit of a Homer, but stilll. Hmmm.
Less surprising to see a lot of Barcelona & Real Madrid players there – half of each team in fact – and probably also not surprising to see La Liga and the English Premiership dominating the list. Although I noted that Ibrahimovic from Inter Milan in Italy’s Serie A is top of the pile with close neighbour Kaka (AC Milan) and a few players from French side Lyon too.
Anyway, below is the full list (Source: Futebol Finance)….the top 50 highest paid footballers in the world. Try not to spill your beer whan you read it!
